Kevin Brown says shock Super League side could get relegated

Challenge Cup

As Leeds Rhinos, Hull FC and Hull KR chase a place in the top six, as Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and St Helens push for a place inside the top four or two and Leigh Leopards look to put the pressure on Catalans Dragons at the top, there is another battle going on.

There is a battle to stay in Super League which was sparked into light last week when Wakefield Trinity battered Salford Red Devils plunging Castleford Tigers into trouble.

The Tigers now just have a four point lead on Trinity and the two have to play each other at Belle Vue later this year.

But the big question is can Trinity find a way back?

Kevin Brown has had his say: “I think what Wakey have got on their side is that everyone relegated them about a month, two months ago, they said they were that bad, myself included. I couldn’t see where they were going to pick a win up.

“Now, a lot of things have fallen into place. They’ve got Dave Fifita back, I thought that was a great move, and he’s come over in great shape.”

He even suggested that not only are Cas in trouble but his former club Huddersfield Giants are in trouble too: “They can realistically avoid relegation and they’re not only chasing Cas, they’re chasing Huddersfield as well so they can get dragged in it if Wakefield win this week you’ll feel the pressure and it’s all on.”

Meanwhile, former Wakefield boss John Kear added: “I think that this weekend game is a fascinating game, but I really do think Huddersfield and Warrington are too.

“That’s because they’re two clubs who are looking to re-find the confidence and I think everybody who’s in the game knows that confidence is pretty easy to lose but it’s very, very difficult to regain and it will be a fascinating couple of weeks.”
