Kevin Brown reveals who he believes is ‘the best tackler’ in Super League

There are always many debates about which Super League players are best in certain areas.

But, in terms of defence, there is always one man’s name that seems to do the rounds – no matter who is asked.

He may only be small, but Wigan Warriors’ Tommy Leuluai hits tremendously hard and Premier Sports pundit Kevin Brown hailed the former New Zealand international on Friday night as Wigan put the Salford Red Devils to the sword.

“Usually the small players get targeted in defence, but Tommy is pound for pound the best tackler in the competition,” Brown said on Premier Sports.

“I’ve seen him snap Maurie Fa’asavalu in two and leave him on the floor.

“There are no weak links from him, he’s a fantastic general but his defence for me is his biggest asset.”

Leuluai helped Wigan to a 20-0 victory in the Challenge Cup Sixth Round as the Warriors put their name in the hat for the Quarter-Finals.

The Lancashire club have since drawn Wakefield Trinity at Belle Vue, with expectation on head coach Matty Peet and his men,  with Wigan not winning the Challenge Cup since 2013.

However, Leuluai was banned for Wigan’s clash against Hull FC after being charged with a Grade B Dangerous Tackle offencein that game against Salford, but he will be free to play this weekend.
