Kevin Brown reveals the “obvious choice” to take over Castleford Tigers

It has been exactly a week since Castleford Tigers announced that they were parting company with Head Coach Lee Radford and it has more than divided opinion.

Speaking on The Last Tackle on the Sportsman YouTube channel, Kevin Brown had his say alongside Erol Crabtree:

“It’s early so I think there must be something going on behind the scenes as well. There must have been a fallout that’s increased and accelerated the decision.”

Crabtree then stated: “If you look on social media I don’t think the fans were particularly happy with Lee Radford anyway but it doesn’t seem like the excuse to get rid of him.

“It seems there’s something not quite right at the club, behind the scenes that we’re not aware of. They’re been two tough games that they’ve not been expected to win.”

This came as Brown revealed what he felt was an obvious pick for the role in the shape of former London Broncos boss Danny Ward:

“I think Danny Ward is an obvious choice, I think he’s done really well and been at Cas before, plus he’s from that area. The first thing they need to do is get some young players in that squad. I think there was only one player under the age of 30 on.

“They’ve got a lot of experience but they need some youth in there as well.”

Whoever comes in has a big job on their hands in the eyes of Crabtree: “They’re losing players to injury and I don’t think they have the strongest squad so whoever comes in, they’ve got a job to do.”
