Kevin Brown goes in on “poor” Super League side

Kevin Brown is a former Huddersfield Giants star but the halfback is certainly less than impressed by the Giants at the moment and especially their defeat to St Helens at the weekend.

“No and the performances of some of the key personnel who have been brought in to not only change the fortunes but make them win trophies has been remarkable,” he said on BBC Five Live.

“I think that they don’t look balanced, they don’t look like a team that are about to change the form if anything they’re getting worse each week.

“It looked like they were about to change when they beat Castleford but the performance today was as poor as I’ve seen you know for a long long time from Huddersfield.”

On the flip side, he was full of praise for St Helens:

“St Helens have almost done it under the radar, bizarrely, because they because of the way that they’ve played and the expectation that we’ve got on St Helens, the world champions, they’ve just not quite you know hit the straps yet.

“Today they did. Defensively they were very good and I think the fact that Matty Lees is playing with Alex Walmsley helped, that’s not happened much this year .

“When they put Morgan Knowles in that pack to with Curtis Sironen and Sione Mata’utia then it will look like that proper Saints dominant side that we’ve seen for a number of years.

“I still think they’re the favourites. I still believe that I still thought that when they were having a tricky patch but yeah they were bouncing again today.”
