Warrington Wolves are looking strong to start the season and could go top of the table tonight with a win by four or more points against Hull KR.

Now former Warrington stand-off Kevin Brown has had his say on the difference in Warrington this year compared with last year.

This came as he said their win over Salford Red Devils was a game they would have lost in 2022.

Brown said on The Last Tackle on The Sportsman of Daryl Powell and his side: “He took a lot of criticism so I think it’s about time he gets some plaudits and the way they’ve turned it around. The difference this year is the win at the weekend they came from behind.

“When I was at the club it was a big thing they spoke about, they couldn’t win from behind. When they got in front they were fabulous.

“They’d have lost that last season and they’d have probably lost it connivingly. Salford went there playing great stuff but the recruitment has been great.”

He also highlighted the difference in George Williams: “I think the best thing in the off-season was George Williams playing for England and getting his confidence back.

“I think it’s the best he’s played since he was at Canberra. If they can keep him playing at that level and get some others going. Conversely Daryl Clark didn’t play for England and I think he’s benefited from the rest.”
