Kevin Brown disappointed by Super League attendance

In the last Super League Round three games reached five figure crowds.

But sadly there was one that was below 5,000 even though it also deserved a huge crowd.

That was Salford Red Devils’ win over Catalans Dragons which didn’t quite reach 4,000 fans.

This is partly because Catalans can’t bring a big away following whilst Salford seem to suffer bad luck with Manchester United games taking place at the same time such as the FA Cup semi-final.

Either way Salford deserve bigger crowds and their former player Kevin Brown was left disappointed by the crowd:

“It’s great. The only negative I’ve got with Salford is the numbers of people watching them.

“I just it was just over 3,000 whereas at Leigh they’re getting the fans.

“The brand of football that Paul Rowley has got Salford playing means people should be packing that place out because the players and club deserve it.

“They showed a lot of grit but very very lucky that it wasn’t a draw because of the goal that was missed right at the end.”

He also revealed that Salford star Joe Burgess who scored a magnificent try against Catalans took the mick out of him after the game:

“There was a try in that game that Joe Burgess scored and he messaged me saying ‘my last five minutes was like your first five’.

“I didn’t know if it was a compliment at first but he was dying over the line and Tom Johnstone was so close to catching him up.”
