Keith Senior’s Super League Predictions: Round 5

Warrington Wolves vs Castleford Tigers (Thursday 7.45pm)

It was a tough match for Warrington last week and they will have been disappointed by their performance in the South of France. Nobody was really talking about Castleford before the season but they have quietly gone about their business and sit pretty at the top of the table. This should be a great game but on home soil I fancy the Wolves.

Hull FC vs Leeds Rhinos (Friday 7.45pm)

Wins have been like busses for Hull, after their long losing streak they are now looking for three consecutive victories. They will be without Jake Connor but are able to welcome back Scott Taylor against a Leeds team that is struggling. Wakefield proved far too good for the Rhinos last Friday and although I think this will be close, I fancy Hull to edge it.

St Helens vs London Broncos (Friday 7.45pm)

It has been a perfect start from Saints but I don’t think Justin Holbrook has his team fully firing yet which is scary for the rest of the league. This week they face a London team who pulled off one of the biggest shocks I’ve seen for a while by beating Wigan on Sunday. What a job Danny Ward has done! At home, you have to fancy Saints to make it five in a row.

Wigan Warriors vs Huddersfield Giants (Friday 7.45pm)

This was the bottom two up until a few hours ago when Wigan got their points back which they were deducted at the start of the season. It sounds silly but I think Adrian Lam needed them, especially after the display at London. This is the perfect game for Wigan to get back to winning ways against a below par Huddersfield side.

Catalans Dragons vs Salford Red Devils (Saturday 5pm)

It’s like the Catalans of old this season with superb displays at home and shocking performances on their travels. They now host a Salford team who have played well this season barring two home games against Leeds and St Helens. As mentioned though, the Dragons look good in Perpignan and I think Salford will go the same way as Warrington last week.

Keith says: Catalans by 10

Wakefield Trinity vs Hull KR (Sunday 3pm)

After a tough start Chris Chester is working his magic again with impressive back-to-back displays against Catalans and Leeds. Hull KR are struggling with injuries and were second best against Castleford, much to the frustration of the Rovers fans. Taking everything into consideration I fancy Wakefield to win this quite comfortably.
