Keith Senior’s Super League Predictions: Round 17

Castleford Tigers vs Huddersfield Giants (Friday 7.45pm)

Last week’s break came at the wrong time for the Giants who were exceptional at Magic Weekend against Hull the week before. It has been an up and down season for Cas but on their day I think they are better than Huddersfield so I’ll back them to just about get the job done.

Hull FC vs Salford Red Devils (Friday 7.45pm)

Talking of up and down teams there is no greater example of that than Hull. Lose by 50 and then win by 50 the week after, what will we get this week. Salford can beat anyone on their day and they will run Hull close, but I think they will just come up short.

Wakefield Trinity vs Leeds Rhinos (Friday 7.45pm)

A must win game for both sides according to Wakefield boss Chris Chester. Trinity are doing it tough at the moment but they have beaten Leeds twice already this season. It has been all change at the Rhinos recently and I just have a feeling they will grab a much-needed win this week.

Warrington Wolves vs Catalans Dragons (Saturday 3.15pm)

Steve McNamara will have trouble picking his players up after their embarrassing Challenge Cup exit to Hull FC. Steve Price and Warrington clung on to make the semis at Hull KR but they will be hoping for an 80-minute performance this week. Wire to run away with it in the last 20 of this one.

Hull KR vs Wigan Warriors (Sunday 3pm)

Tony Smith takes charge of Hull KR for the first time on Sunday and it is a huge first game against struggling Wigan. Adrian Lam himself is under pressure and he knows that Rovers will be pumped to show their new coach what they can do. This will be a nervy contest and I see Wigan just nicking the two points.

Keith says: Wigan by 6

London Broncos vs St Helens (Sunday 3pm)

The Broncos have had a couple of weeks to reflect on what might have been at Magic Weekend against Leeds and now they have to dust themselves off to face the league leaders. Saints just keep marching on and I say the same every week but they are just too good to back against at the moment. I think London will put up a fight here, with Saints pulling away in the second half.
