Kear and Crowther sign contract extensions at Wakefield

Wakefield Trinity Head of Rugby John Kear and young forward Jordan Crowther have extended their stays at the club by signing new one-year contracts.

After a top eight finish, Wakefield fans will be delighted that the two-time Challenge Cup winning coach is staying on.

Kear held the top job at Trinity in 2006 before moving on to Batley Bulldogs, but his experience will have certainly helped current coach Chris Chester who joined the club after being sacked from Hull Kingston Rovers.

The former Hull FC coach told the Trinity website: “I am really pleased,”

“I have got great affection for the club as most people will know from my first stint here.

“I have enjoyed working with Michael, Chris and the coaching staff this season, so I am really looking forward to next year.

“It is great to see how much we have improved on last season but we still have plenty to do over the next six weeks.”

Crowther has come through the thriving Trinity academy and has impressed when given game time for the West Yorkshire club.

He signed a four year contract back in 2014 and he has now confirmed he will be adding another season to his deal.

“I am really happy, I have been with Wakefield since I was 15 so it is really nice to be able to stay, especially when it is your home town club as well,” Crowther said.

“I haven’t played as many games as I would have liked to this season, but the competition is strong. Hopefully next year I can kick on in pre-season and get a few more games.”
