Justin Holbrook tipped for Super League move

The Gold Coast Titans and head coach Justin Holbrook have agreed to part ways, effective immediately.

Holbrook has made a strong contribution since joining the club in 2020, however as the club works towards the 2030 strategy of bringing success, the decision has been made to move in a new direction.

“We are grateful to Justin for his contribution to the club over the past four seasons,” said Titans CEO Steve Mitchell.

“We are here to bring success to the Gold Coast and in order to do so we feel that this is the change necessary to deliver on our promise which is to win premierships.”

Premiership-winning coach Des Hasler will join the Gold Coast Titans as head coach for the 2024 season and beyond. Hasler brings significant experience having coached 458 NRL games, reaching five grand finals and winning two premierships.

Following this, Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks linked him with Warrington Wolves, Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos.

In light of this, Barrie McDermott backed Holbrook to come to Super League.

“Justin Holbrook got sacked in the week. He would be hot property for any team, any squad. So, we could see him in Super League soon.

“We saw how Andy Last has turned Castleford’s fortunes around, he gets them believing they can win.”

This came as he asked questions of Powell:

“So, is Daryl Powell under the same kind of pressure Ian Watson is under?

“Well, it looks like it even though they’re higher up the table.

“They’re losing games they shouldn’t.”
