Justin Holbrook secures shock signing of Beau Fermor

In a move that has surprised portions of Newcastle Knights’ fans, rising star Beau Fermor has left the club after his release request was granted.

This has allowed him to sign a deal with the Gold Coast Titans, with Justin Holbrook’s side securing one of the best up and coming talents in the NRL.

It is believed that the 21-year-old wished to be closer to family, and felt that a move to the Gold Coast would promise a stronger future.

It is also believed that the contract offered to him by the Titans, is worth nearly double than what he would have been receiving at the Knights.

“He’s got a three-year deal at the Titans for considerably more money than he is on here but the big thing for Beau and his partner was the chance to move back closer to family,” Knights coach Adam O’Brien told the Newcastle Herald.

The former Queensland Under-20s backrower will hope to add depth to the Titans pack and despite an ACL injury in 2018, it is thought that he will be available to play in the early stages of the 2020 season.

Fermor will be the third signing under new head coach Holbrook, after the club secured the signings of former Eels outside back Greg Leleisiuao and ex-Warriors hooker Erin Clark.
