Before judging Chase, know the real story says Cas forward

Rangi Chase Widnes Vikings

Castleford Tigers forward Jesse Sene-Lefao has said he’s gutted to find out about Rangi Chase’s suspension for cocaine use, but says people need to know the real story.

Chase has been a controversial figure throughout his rugby career, going through a number of different clubs up until his suspension at Widnes Vikings.

Sene-Lefao is a former teammate of Chase and he says the troubled star needs his friends around him at this moment in time.

The former Manly and Cronulla player also talked about the former Man of Steel coming to his church fellowship group, but the half-back hadn’t attended since joining the Vikings.

“I am just devastated and really gutted to hear what’s happened,” the Cas forward told the Daily Star

“He needs real friends around him at the moment.

“I am pretty close to Rangi and his family. At the moment he has got a lot of problems but people do not know what happens inside rugby league.

“A lot of people say it is tough to talk and weak not to and Rangi does not talk much.

“But before you judge you want to know the real story. When he left here I know he had a few demons he was fighting.

“He has not come to our group recently but he is still part of it and we still pray for him. I will have to talk to him. I want to try and be there for him.”

why ban a player for taking recreational drugs? It does not enhance his performance quite the opposite. Be ok if he was pissed every night I suppose?
