Josh Hodgson speaks out on rumours linking him with move away

Canberra hooker Josh Hodgson has played down reports of a rift between him and coach Ricky Stuart and rubbished reports that he is set to move to Brisbane after stepping down as the club’s captain.

Reports of a bust-up between Stuart and Hodgson emerged at the same time Joe Tapine’s wife took aim at the boss and George Williams claimed he was homesick, but the number nine has refuted any claims of infighting at Canberra in an interview with Fox Sports.

“Some of the stories have been laughable saying that me and Stick are fighting and arguing,” Hodgson said.

“When I stepped down it couldn’t be more amicable.

“We’ve got a pretty good relationship and business is business sometimes, so me and Rick will never blue in terms of in a big way. We’re all good.

“It was the hardest decision I’ve made in my career.

“I just felt like it was right at the time.

“I love this club too much to let my own ego stand in the way, but that was the first I’d heard about (Brisbane). It was shock to me and a shock to my family.”
