Josh Hodgson linked with huge move

Josh Hodgson is now said to be on the radar of another NRL club after his proposed move to the Wests Tigers fell through.

The English hooker had been locked in talks with the Tigers for much of the off-season, but talks ended last week after the Canberra Raiders and Wests could not agree on facts and figures.

Instead, Hodgson has returned to training with the Raiders as his contract enters the final year, prompting another NRL club to start circling ahead of a potential move.

That club is the Parramatta Eels who have recently lost hooker Reed Mahoney to the Canterbury Bulldogs in 2023.

Hodgson has one year remaining on his contract at Canberra and he and the club are determined to go ahead with that commitment.

His contract will be over $800,000 for 2021, but a hefty pay cut is likely from 2023 – amounting to over half of what he is currently earning.

Hodgson, according to theĀ Daily Telegraph, would be willing to move to Sydney to continue his career after stalling in the capital.

And, despite being 33 when the 2023 season comes around, the hooker is still highly regarded at Parramatta and would still be a considerable asset to the Eels.
