Josh Hodgson given parting shot by club in shock twist

Josh Hodgson has been told to leave by the Canberra Raiders.

The Green Machine has been willing to let the Englishman talk to other clubs in a bid to remove his substantial wage from the salary cap, but now the club is itching closer to getting rid with youngster Tom Starling expected to slot straight in as number one hooker.

However, Starling has been spoken to by police in New South Wales for the second time in under a year after trying to attend a club – only to be refused entry – which could jeopardise Starling’s future at Canberra, as well as potentially throwing Hodgson’s transfer away from the Raiders into question.

Yet it now seems as though Hodgson is finally going to get his move as Canberra ponder the decisive swap deal that would cut the Englishman’s career at the Raiders short, with Hodgson still under contract for the 2022 NRL season.

Hodgson has been a revelation in his time Down Under, joining the capital club ahead of the 2015 season and going on to play almost 150 NRL games for the Raiders.

However, with Hodgson’s deal running out at the end of next season, it is hoped that the Raiders can offload him before.
