Josh Hodgson future update as clubs circle former Super League hooker

Josh Hodgson’s Canberra career could be coming to an end.

That’s according to the Daily Telegraph, which has reported that the Raiders are set to have a major clearout at the end of the 2021 NRL season.

And, amongst that overhaul, the future of former Hull FC and Hull KR hooker Josh Hodgson is very much up in the air as other clubs set to move in for the kill

The 31-year-old is still contracted for 2022 on a contract apparently worth $800,000, but Hodgson wants a long-term deal – something which Canberra are unwilling – or unlikely – to hand out anytime soon.

Tom Starling is waiting in the wings to take over the number 9 shirt from Hodgson and that could now be set to happen sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, Raiders head coach Ricky Stuart blasted his side’s performance as they were thrashed 40-16 by Sydney Roosters in a defeat that ended their hopes of making the play-offs.

“It’s an empty feeling. It’s a shocking feeling because I think we’re a better team than where we’ve ended up on the table,” Stuart said.
