Josh Griffin has, for the first time since rupturing his Achilles, completed his first run back on the rugby league field.

The Hull FC centre has spent a long time on the sidelines after suffering the horrific Achilles tendon injury in Hull FC’s Challenge Cup semi-final defeat to St Helens way back at the start of June.

But, Griffin – who may well have represented England at this year’s World Cup had it gone ahead and had he been fit – looks to be well on the road to recovery.

The 31-year-old posted: “WE MADE IT!!.. todays been a good day, after 4 months I’ve laced the boots back up and completed my first run on grass. Feeling heavy and unfit but now the real fun starts”.

It’s a rebuilding stage for Brett Hodgson’s men going into the 2022 season following a disappointing end to 2021, with nine losses from ten games setting the tone for a big pre-season.
