Leigh Leopards star Josh Charnley has detailed what Leigh Leopards need to do in order to compete with the best in Super League.
The Leopards had a wonderful end to the regular season, with 10 wins from their last 12, but were defeated by Wigan Warriors and Hull KR – the top two in Super League, and the Grand Finalists this year.
They beat Salford Red Devils in the eliminator round, but were thrashed 38-0 against Wigan Warriors in the semi-final of Super League at the weekend.

Following the heavy defeat, Charnley said to the BBC: “We’re losing a lot of key players, but I think they’ve signed well.
“We don’t really know who they’ve signed and what they’ve signed, but Derek has, I think, put a big platform down and he’s bought big.
“We need X-Factor players like Wigan have got to start competing at the higher level.”
He also referenced the fact that the club have had to improve a lot over the past few years.
Just two years ago, they made their way out of the RFL Championship and therefore missed out on many years of TV money from Super League.
He continued: “We’ve started building having come from the Championship. We managed to win the Challenge Cup last year and we’ve finished in the top six. They’re just little stepping stones and we want to follow the likes of Wigan and the bigger clubs around us.
“Derek has bought big and hopefully we can start competing and try and lift that Grand Final at the end of the year.”
