Jordan Turner shares horrendous racist tirade

No matter what anyone says, racism is still a major problem in all sport and, despite rugby league’s Tackle It campaign, sometimes the defiant words seem to fall on deaf ears.

Just like football’s Kick It Out campaign, rugby league’s Tackle It has been at the forefront of the sport following a societal movement towards greater awareness of racist abuse.

However, as Jamaica’s national side found out over the weekend, that doesn’t necessarily mean that old-fashioned opinions do not rear their ugly head.

The Reggae Warriors drew 30-30 apiece with Scotland in an international friendly as preparations for next year’s World Cup continue to be made.

However, the great spirit so obviously emanating from the Jamaican players in a team photo was met with a horrendous response: “Any of them ever been to their home countries? Granny once had a charabanc trip to Ayr? Or got up the duff to a Rastafarian from the Fforde Green?”

Naturally, such a response was met with disdain and Jamaican frontman and Castleford Tigers star Jordan Turner quoted the RFL in a tweet that read: “If you don’t find this guy I will…”

Let’s hope something is done.
