Jordan Abdull ‘leaves Hull FC’ ahead of new season as new signings possible

Jordan Abdull has reportedly left Hull FC with just over five weeks to go before the start of the new Super League season. Abdull only joined up with the Black and Whites a couple of months ago, with the half-back penning a three-year deal with the club where he started his career.

However, according to a Hull Live report, the half-back has now left the club having reached an agreement with the Black and Whites that sees the two parties part ways. It comes as the half-back continues to struggle with a knee issue with John Cartwright confirming last week that he was behind schedule in his recovery.

Abdull made the move to Hull after a turbulent 2024 campaign after being told he was surplus to requirements by Hull KR during pre-season. He joined Catalans Dragons on loan in January but injury meant he made just 15 appearances for the club.

The half-back’s next steps are unclear, with Abdull now a free agent and available to move to a different club. How Hull move on is yet to be confirmed, too.

The hope at the start of pre-season was that Abdull would be able to form a partnership with Aidan Sezer in the halves, but it seems Cade Cust is now the most likely option to play at six from within the squad.

Serious About RL understands that the club are pushing to make new signings, though, and are watching the situation at Salford Red Devils closely with the club potentially having to offload players. Salford’s Deon Cross is thought to be one of those of interest and Abdull’s exit opens up the cap space and resources to add another name to their squad, potentially in the pivot positions.

Hull FC have already been busy when it comes to recruitment ahead of the new season. Abdull was one of 10 signings made with Hugo Salabio, who was released by Huddersfield Giants in December, being the latest to join up with Cartwright’s side.
