Jon Wilkin’s bold Leeds Rhinos, Hull KR & Wigan prediction and ‘vendetta’ comment on fans

St Helens star turned Sky Sports pundit Jon Wilkin has delivered a bold Leeds Rhinos prediction.

The Super League is heating up at just the right time, with Hull KR top on points difference ahead of Wigan Warriors.

Warrington Wolves sit a further two points back on 30 points, while St Helens, Catalans Dragons and Salford Red Devils are all on 26.

Leeds Rhinos and Leigh Leopards are both outside of the play-off spots by four and five points respectively.

Leeds have had a torrid time of things this year but have just hit some form, shown by their impressive win over Wigan Warriors last time out. And Wilkin thinks Brad Arthur’s side can win the Grand Final.

“I think sometimes the fans think I have a vendetta against Leeds. But I have a duty to be frank in what I say and what I have seen for most of the season so far is a team not good enough to make the play-offs,” Wilkin told Sky Sports.

“What I saw at the weekend against Wigan was a team capable of winning the Grand Final. That is the marked difference Brad Arthur has made.

“Brad Arthur is looking for buy in from his players before he’ll even think about committing to staying in 2025.

“I’m telling Ian Blease, who is the football director at Leeds Rhinos, sign your man up now. He asked for buy in and he’s got it and the performances from Leeds have made me change my mind.”

Firstly, I must have missed the Wigan and Hull KR comments in the article. Secondly, assuming the reporting is both accurate and complete, I think Mr Wilkin is getting a little carried away with a Leeds result against a Wigan team playing their third game in ten days, missing half their strike players, and with pretty unconvincing performances in their last three or four games on the whole.
It was undoubtedly a better performance than Leeds had put on for some time, but not something likely to get them anywhere near the Theatre of Dreams, other than with the other spectators.
