Jon Wilkin stunned by unlikely Super League star

Earlier this season Joe Shorrocks joined Leigh Leopards on loan and was very impressive.

However, few could have imagined the impact he would have back at parent club Wigan Warriors.

The Warriors were worried when they lost Cade Cust and Jai Field to injury especially with Champions St Helens and League Leaders Warrington Wolves on the horizon.

However, Shorrocks has moved into the halves and done an amazing job.

In fact he was the difference against St Helens with some brilliant defence.

He was then sensational against Warrington once more and Joe Wilkin was shocked with how good he has been.

He was full of praise for the versatile forward:

“It is no surprise that Joe Shorrocks is around a lot of it. It is no surprise but for somebody we never speak about, we would have never mentioned Joe Shorrocks at the start of the season.”

Brian Carney then said: “He was on loan at Leigh!”

Wilkin then continued with:

“In two weeks, he has come across my radar in such a big way that I can’t help but watch his involvements because they are small but the kind of involvements that when you play with someone like that you value you it immensely.

“Big defensive involvements that Matt Peet will appreciate.”
