Jon Wilkin slams Catalans Dragons forward Dylan Napa following his red card against St Helens

There was one major talking point from last night’s Super League clash between St Helens and Catalans Dragons.

And, that was the red card handed out to Catalans forward and new signing Dylan Napa following a shoulder charge to the head of Mark Percival.

Referee Liam Moore didn’t hesitate to reach to his pocket for the red card with the overwhelming majority of viewers thinking the same.

For Sky Sports pundit Jon Wilkin, he believed that the Dragons came with intensity, but in an ill-disciplined manner and he had a few choice words for former Canterbury Bulldogs prop Napa.

“What Dylan Napa did there wasn’t tough, it was borderline reckless,” Wilkin said.

“For me James Roby is tough and Joe Batchelor is very tough, but I think Catalans got tough and reckless wrong at key times in the game.”

Napa was given his marching orders in the 71st minute, but Catalans head coach Steve McNamara confessed that he didn’t really see it, praising Napa in the process for his physical presence during the match.

“I thought he put himself about a lot,” McNamara told Sky Sports.

“He was a physical presence, but he caught one too high there and he’s paid the price for it.

“I didn’t see it too closely so I’m not sure, but initially I thought he’d hit the ball and gone up a bit.”

Funny how he never sees his own teams indiscretions. Has 20/20 if it’s the other team. Same old same old Catalan.
