Last night was a really tight game in the wet at Hull as Hull FC clung on against Wigan Warriors in the rain for back to back wins and end Wigan’s six game winning run.

It also gifts Warrington Wolves the chance to reclaim top spot tonight against Wakefield Trinity.

As Jon Wilkin assessed what went right for Hull FC on the night he felt that Hull FC showed that they are learning what it takes to win tight games as shown by their decision to take the two,

He said: “I think they recognised what it takes to win games that are tight and those two points were hugely valuable.

“In the conditions you want all the points you can get.”

Meanwhile, he also said Wigan’s ill-discipline and errors gifted Hull FC the win as it gave them field position and territory.

“The talking point for Wigan is discipline, is penalties, is knock ons which have gifted Hull field position and possession,” Wilkin said.

“Hull FC’s effort and energy has had its part to play in the why they have been good here but Wigan have made too many errors.”

Either way its back to back wins for Hull FC and renewed optimism in Tony Smith’s long term project at the club.
