Jon Wilkin says Super League side are “making ripples” across the competition

Jon Wilkin is never short of a bold assessment in Super League which is what makes him so fascinating to listen to.

Wilkin has made another big statement this time following Leigh Leopards’ third win of the season last week which came at the expense of Hull FC.

The Leopards stormed into a 16-0 lead early on.

Hull battled back but with Josh Charnley completing his hat-trick and Ben Reynolds nailing a late penalty they secured a 24-16 win.

Tonight the Leopards host local rivals Wigan Warriors live on Sky Sports in a huge game.

Prior to this Wilkin has said that the Leopards are “making ripples” in Super League.

He said: “The Leigh Leopards who maybe weren’t favoured going into the season are making ripples and that is a big headline for me.”

In terms of tonight’s clash, Matt Peet has only actually made one change and that’s the return of Joe Shorrocks, who had been on loan at Leigh for the past two weeks.

Shorrocks takes the place of young Junior Nsemba and will provide vital insight into Wigan’s Thursday night opponents.

Outside of Shorrocks the 21-man squad is unchanged with Wigan being the only side to have consistently fielded the same set of backs throughout the start of the season in Field, French, King, Wardle, Marshall, Cust and Smith.

Whilst Peet adds Shorrocks to his squad, Lam has to replace him.

The man who has been elected to replace Joe Shorrocks is Nathan Wilde meaning that Lam will have a near full strength squad, as it remains relatively unchanged.

Last week was the first time Edwin Ipape started and that could be set to happen again whilst Josh Charnley will certainly be hoping for another hattrick.
