Jon Wilkin says “everyone” wants to see this team do well

Brian Carney always says “when rugby league is doing well in Hull, rugby league is doing well.”

He said this to Willie Peters recently. Peters is already beloved at Hull KR with the Robins in the top four and on a winning streak and have beaten last year’s top two and last year’s Grand Finalists.

Carney said this to Peters in an almost unhearable interview as the Hull KR fans showered him in praise at the Jungle after they defeated Castleford Tigers 12-7.

Carney repeated those words to Peters’ predecessor and the coach of Hull FC Tony Smith on Sky Sports but the Black and Whites have been struggling this year though they did defeat Huddersfield Giants before the international break snapping a seven game losing streak.

Now Jon Wilkin has said he hopes that win will be what sparks Hull FC into life saying everyone is hoping they can kick on hinting that the sport needs Hull FC to do well.

“As a pundit it is difficult because I want to say something positive about Hull FC but I rarely get something but I did last week when they beat Huddersfield.

“And everyone in the game is hoping that is what gets Hull FC started.”
