Jon Wilkin says “big conversations” need to be had at Huddersfield Giants after Warrington hammering

Huddersfield Giants were defeated 66-0 at home against Warrington Wolves on Saturday night, bringing a new low point in a terrible season.

They did manage to scrape past London Broncos a week earlier, but Luke Robinson’s side just seemed to roll over against Warrington, making it the second time in the space of a month they had conceded 60+ points in a game.

Just two years after finishing third in the Super League table, they will now finish ninth, in the same position as last season.

This is a far cry from their situation of a decade ago, where they finished first, third and third again from 2013 to 2015.

It was yet another embarrassing moment for the Giants, but a score of 66-0 at home is surely their worst moment for a long time.

Following the game, Jon Wilkin said on Sky Sports: “I know we keep saying that Warrington have to play what is in front of them but Huddersfield were rank. They were awful here tonight and Warrington blew them to bits.

“Their season has been woeful and you look at what’s going on and there’s a rebuild going on. Luke Robinson’s obviously wants to make some changes but I was here watching that and thinking how have Huddersfield got here? Just as I’m thinking how have Hull got where they’ve got?”

Hull FC have themselves, at least for now, moved bottom of the table after their own pasting – 58-4 at the hands of Salford Red Devils.

Wilkin continued: “Some big conversations need to be had at these lower clubs because that’s just not good enough. To get put away 66-0, it’s not good look is it?

“The club needs home truths about where they’re at and why they’re here. They need to look at why they can’t keep hold of players. Honesty is what is needed in a crisis like this.”

It’s simple the board allowed Watson to recruit as been players , you don’t see Wigan recruiting players in the 32-35 age gap , giving Chris hill a 2 year extension instead of keeping Owen trout on decent money is a prime example no disrespect to Chris, but salary cap as been used badly
