Jon Wilkin raises Warrington Wolves concern

As Warrington Wolves head into their Round Seven clash with Hull unbeaten, Jon Wilkin has sung their praises after they beat Castleford Tigers 38-0 last week.

“It was an outstanding performance from Warrington Wolves. They dismantled Castleford and they were as powerful and punchy as ever,” Wilkin said on Sky Sports.

“Some of their key players are really hitting their straps.

“George Williams is in exceptional form but it is their power in the middle of the field and their ability to run at teams in the middle of the field that has really impressed me.

“Some fantastic performances, they deserve their place at the top after a really difficult season in 2022.”

However, he did raise a concern for the Wolves, something they have never been quite able to master in the likes of 2011 and 2016 as well as other years: peaking at the right time.

“I looked at Warrington’s team and knew that George Williams was coming into the season on the back of a World Cup full of form and full of confidence,” Wilkin said.

“I don’t think I would have questioned it but the challenge for a team like Warrington is to peak at the right time of the year.

“They want to be coming into their best form at the end of the year. I love how they are playing with power and a balance with lateral movement.”
