Jon Wilkin picks out the 3 teams who are “flopping” in Super League

With the Super League season now beyond its midpoint, a clear picture of the Super League table has emerged. Although the loop fixtures can distort this view slightly, as every side has not player each other yet, 14 games is a big enough sample size to understand how teams are trending.

At the top of the table, Wigan Warriors and St Helens are locked in a battle for the League Leaders’ Shield. At the bottom, London Broncos are cut adrift with just one win, following Hull FC’s win over Leeds Rhinos at the weekend, which led to Rohan Smith’s departure as Leeds head coach.

However, in the middle of the table, the picture is less clear. There are a group of sides who currently resemble a group of drunks racing for the last taxi, as they struggle to find their form. The Catalans Dragons, Leeds and the Huddersfield Giants are locked in a battle for sixth place.

However, they have all hit a poor patch of form at the wrong time, as they lose touch with the sides above them. Now, Sky Sports pundit, Jon Wilkin, has identified the sides he believes are flopping in Super League this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports‘ The Verdict programme, Jon Wilkin has given his opinion on the sides who are currently locked in a battle for sixth place in the Super League table. According to Wilkin, Catalans, Leeds and Huddersfield are the three sides who are currently flopping in Super League.

However, he believes that it will only take one of these sides going on a good run of form to propel themselves into the play-off places. Wilkin said:

“The floppers, well this is where it gets interesting for me. Catalan, alarm in form. Leeds, alarm in form. Huddersfield, alarm in form. Those three floppers are the ones that are pushing to get into the six, will one of you get your act together?

“Let one of you three teams go on and run, because all of you are looking like you quite happily go out in seventh and get an extra week off at the end of the year and, you know, you can all get on in your holiday destination or go to the Yucatan Peninsula or wherever the players go on holiday.

“They’re probably Dubai or Turkey to go get your teeth done or whatever it is you know get on your holidays early why not because if it’s just one of those teams, Jenna, please have a crack.”
