Jon Wilkin makes huge play-off prediction

It has been a strange Super League season at the top of the league.

Right now Catalans Dragons sit top despite being written off at the start of the year and having to deal with plenty of injury problems.

They have beaten Hull KR twice this season and the Robins’ assistant coach Danny McGuire has claimed that the Dragons are “real title contenders” and will definitely make the play-offs.

However, the two other clubs he sees as nailed on are interesting to say the least.

That is because they are two teams who lost last week: Champions St Helens and former league leaders Warrington Wolves.

“I filled three. I think Wigan will have a strong finish to the season and I back our boys at Hull KR to have a really strong season,” McGuire said on Sky Sports.

“However, the three I think are locked in are Catalans Dragons, Warrington Wolves and St Helens.

“But my main one was Catalans. I was most confident about them. It is a really tough place to go and get a win.

“Not many teams have done it. They have a well rounded squad, experience in key position and some great young French players.

“I can’t see them dropping out of the six. I see them as real title contenders.”

A fairly conservative prediction from McGuire which is very much the opposite of what Jon Wilkin predicted.

He made the bold prediction that the play-off picture will not change at all:

“To me that is the top six we will end up. I think the current top six is what we will see at the end of the season.”
