Last night, Leeds Rhinos came up short against Hull KR on the back of a brilliant win over Catalans Dragons last week.

It was a defeat that summarised the struggles Leeds are having to start the season with inconsistency undercutting their brilliant wins.

In fairness to the Rhinos, the weather worked against them last night given their expansive style of play.

However, speaking on Sky Sports Jon Wilkin was left confused by the Rhinos’ style of play.

He referenced their reliance on trick plays and pointed out that their decision to use a short goal line drop out in the first half sparked their down fall as Hull KR kicked the penalty and then scored on the very next set.

This was Leeds’ downfall and it left Wilkin confused by the Rhinos’ approach.

He said:

“This is where I am confused by Leeds. 18 minutes into the game and they try and get the ball back, they don’t and from that they get devastated by what happens after that doesn’t come off.

“They like that the trick plays but if you are going to do it stick with it. If that is what you are going to do, then do it and do it all the time.”
