Jon Wilkin “hates” this kind of analysis of derby day

It’s Easter, it’s Rivals Round and it is the time of year when the form book goes out the window.

Or so the cliché says.

The form book would dictate that Hull KR defeat Hull FC in tomorrow’s Hull derby but speaking on the rugby league verdict Jenna Brooks suggested that form can go out the window.

However, Jon Wilkin pushed back against this cliché saying he hates it.

“I hate that saying, I don’t know if it goes out the window,” Wilkin said.

“You take so much confidence from your form going into a game like this. I don’t know if it goes out the window but it might evoke an emotional performance from Hull FC who have been as flat as pancake the last couple of weeks.

“It is another reason for them to be good but Hull KR are favourites largely because of Jordan Abdull. When he is playing well they are playing well.”

He also hit back at the criticism he receives over his opinions about Hull FC:

“For Hull FC, I get criticised a lot for being harsh on Hull FC but when are you going to get going, when are you going to have a crack.

“As a pundit you want to be patient with teams but when are they going to get going.

“They made some great signings and trust me there is no one Tony Smith and Hull will want to get going in this game more than most.”
