Jon Wilkin critical of Super League side for having no “plan B”

Warrington Wolves started the season brilliantly with eight wins in a row and were sitting at the top of the table.

However, in their last two games they came unstuck against last year’s top two in the shape of Wigan Warriors and St Helens.

Things were tough for the Wolves without many of their key forwards through injuries and suspensions.

And this is why Jon Wilkin has said the Wolves need a plan B if they want to be competitive otherwise they will continue to have this problem.

He explained on Sky Sports:

“I thought Wigan did a very similar job on Warrington as to what we saw from St Helens. They slowed the game down and controlled the physical battle in the middle of the field and I think St Helens did that as well.

“When you are used to that and playing off a quick ruck and Paul Vaughan and other characters aren’t there, it’s like ‘well what’s plan B. You need a plan B, we might only be ten rounds in but they are going to have to work out how to win without that punch in the middle of the field.”

Many of the Wolves’ biggest stars are set to play for England this week in what is perhaps the perfect time for a break for the Wolves.
