Jon Wilkin claims Super League side have the best attacking edge we have seen in years

It is a huge weekend of rugby as Wigan Warriors head to the home of Leeds Rhinos to meet Hull KR in the Challenge Cup semi-final at Headingley whilst Leigh Leopards hope to do the unthinkable at Warrington Wolves’ Halliwell Jones Stadium and beat Super League and World Champions St Helens to book their place at Wembley.

There is a real positive mood at the club at the moment. The Leopards sit second in the table only two points behind Catalans Dragons in top spot.

Remarkably the two met in the 2017 Million Pound Game and are now in a title race.

In their biggest game since that clash six years ago, Leigh have a shot at Wembley and making matters even better the club are working hard to tie down their stars.

Recently Adrian Lam has given an update on the situation around his son and star player on the club’s YouTube channel revealing talks between Lachlan Lam and Director of Rugby, ex-Wakefield Trinity boss Chris Chester:

“Yeah it’s on par. The weeks fly by at the moment and before you know it the next week is here and we’re up to round 18 now, so it’s all flying by.

“Chris Chester is doing a good job there and I’m sure that will all get sorted pretty soon.”

Now a further update has come from Adrian Lam as he confirmed talks between Chris Chester and his son.

“That’s ongoing so hopefully there will be some news about that in the near future,” he said on the club’s YouTube Channel.

“Not only with him, but with a few other players that we have at the club. We’ve got to make sure we finalise deals and there’s players from the outside that we are trying to bring in that we’ve got to finalise. So it’s ongoing.

“That’s Chris Chester’s job, so he’s doing a good job with all of that.”

Lam is part of a very effective left edge for the Leigh Leopards and Jon Wilkin has now branded it the best attacking edge for years.

“I think their left edge might be the best attacking edge we have seen in Super League for a long time.

“Ricky Leutele, Josh Charnley and Lachlan Lam with Gareth O’Brien and Ben Reynolds popping up there too whilst John Asiata lays it on a plate.

“They are just brilliant to watch.”
