Part of the conversation at the start of every new Super League season centres around which team are favourites to get relegated.
This year the bookmakers have Wakefield Trinity as favourites to join the Championship in 2024 and not the newly promoted Leigh Leopards.
This is despite four exciting signings and an exciting young coach in Mark Applegarth.
Nonetheless, Wakefield have been written off including by those on Sky Sports.
Jon Wilkin believes they will be “up against it” however did say you can never tell what’s going to happen.
“Wakefield are going to be up against it. They have a very juvenile coaching set up,” Wilkin joked after receiving stick for his comments on the coaching set up at Wakefield in the past.
”The reality of it is,” he continued, “it’s going to be a tough season for Wakefield. You’d think but what do we know. Things don’t always pan out that way do they?”
Nonetheless, Wilkin predicted that they would go down.
As did Jenna Brooks, Jon Wells and Barrie McDermott.
However Paul Sculthorpe believes it will be Leigh who return to the Championship.
At the other end of the table it was an almost even split.
Jon Wilkin, Barrie McDermott and Paul Sculthorpe are all tipping St Helens to make it five titles in a row.
Wells and Brooks believe Wigan Warriors will end St Helen’s’ dominance.
