John Kear names Wales squad featuring handful of current Super League men

Ahead of the autumn internationals, John Kear has named his Wales squad with a few current Super League players named.

Wales are set to take on Jamaica in a warm-up ahead of their trip to France to face Serbia for European qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Both games will take place in October and Kear has named his 26-man squad for the games and it features a few current Super League players.

However, one of those is Gil Dudson, Warrington Wolves’ prop who is on loan at Salford Red Devils. Dudson has already agreed on a deal with League One victors Oldham for the 2025 season meaning he will be plying his trade in the Championship next year.

The other Super League name in the squad is Leeds Rhinos centre Luis Roberts who is currently one of three players off-contract at Headingley and with no confirmed future. He will be a target for high-flying Championship sides or as a strong depth option in Super League.

Charlie Glover made his debut for Salford Red Devils last week as Paul Rowley fielded an inexperienced side against Wigan Warriors whilst Huw Worthington was once a triallist with Leeds Rhinos.

Kear has named a total of 12 uncapped players in his 26-man squad.

Super League duo named in Wales international squad

Wales have not played an international game since the 2022 World Cup when they crashed out at the group stage following defeats to the Cook Islands, Tonga and Papua New Guinea.

The squad named features mainly Championship and League One players ahead of their games on October 15th and October 22nd against Jamaica and Serbia respectively. A third game is scheduled for October 26th but there is currently no opponent confirmed.

A short statement confirmed the squad: “John Kear has named a 26-player squad ahead of the Autumn internationals.

“We face Jamaica at The Lextan Gnoll on Tuesday 15 October (7.30pm) before travelling to France for the European qualifying competition for the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.”
