Swinton head coach John Duffy has left the club and is expected to be named the new Featherstone Rovers coach later today.
Duffy became Lions’ boss in June 2014 and has done a fine job, leading the club to promotion in 2015 and stabilising them in the Championship.
Featherstone yesterday parted company with Jon Sharp and want to name a successor quickly as they prepare for the Super 8s Qualifiers next month.
Nothing is confirmed yet, but indications would point to Duffy been named the new Rovers coach with an announcement due at 1pm today.
Meanwhile, former boss Sharp has revealed that he was left stunned by the decision not to renew his contract at the LD Nutrition Stadium.
Speaking to the YEP, he said: “There had been progress every year and that’s what’s disappointing – I have not been allowed to finish the journey.
“We are the only part-time team have have achieved back-to-back top-four finishes and the two clubs above us have spent double what we’ve spent, so we’ve done it on limited resources.
“I love being a head coach, that’s what I do well, but I have missed being in Super League and working in a full-time environment.
“I would be prepared to go somewhere as an assistant-coach if it was the right club and the right head coach.”
