John Bateman again speaks out on potential Wigan Warriors exit with interesting say

John Bateman celebrates at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

For nearly a week now rumours have circulated that John Bateman is set to leave Wigan Warriors with the Wests Tigers prepared to pay $250,000 to release him from his current deal.

According to the Daily Telegraph this will lead to a three year deal with the Tigers under coach Tim Sheens.

Wigan Warriors again denied that there had been any formal approach in the Wigan Today.

Meanwhile, prior to England’s Rugby League World Cup quarter-final against Papua New Guinea, Bateman himself deflected any question on this subject as he was focused on the World Cup.

Bateman has now again spoken about a potential Wigan Warriors exit but again said that the World Cup comes first as he spoke to Fox League:

“I’ll sort out what I need to sort out after the World Cup and the decision will come then.

“I’ve got a contract at Wigan and rumours are rumours, but it’s always good to be liked – I don’t care what you say.

“I’ve got a World Cup to focus on and that’s what I am going to be focusing on, I’ll answer the questions after the World Cup.”

Bateman also told the Australian publication how confident he is in his England side:

“We’ve won a couple of games this time that people didn’t expect us to win but we’re confident in ourselves.

“We know what we need to do and we know where we want to go.”
