Joey Leilua reveals all on his Featherstone Rovers experience so far

When Joey Leilua signed for Featherstone Rovers ahead of the 2022 Championship season, no one could really believe their eyes.

An NRL regular with over 250 appearances under his belt for the likes of Canberra Raiders and Wests Tigers, Leilua was coming to a small Yorkshire town to play in the second division.

Leilua has signed a one-year deal at Featherstone after being a constant fixture in the NRL since debuting back in 2010 for the Sydney Roosters.

However, the Samoan powerhouse has settled in seamlessly and talked to Rovers TV about life at the Millennium so far.

“It’s been good, it’s cold but I’m enjoying it so far,” Leilua said.

“I’ve been playing a bit of golf, but it hasn’t been going too well and the wind has been shocking over here so my balls haven’t been going straight!”

Since moving to West Yorkshire, Leilua has been put up in a house provided by Jesse Sene-Lefao’s sponsor Logic Lettings.

“It’s a nice place, it’s cosy and I can’t wait to see my family back here with me.

“I’ve got to say a big thank you to Jesse, his company helped me and his Logic team.”

Despite only playing ten minutes in a Featherstone shirt, Leilua knows just how passionate the Rovers supporters are.

“They are very passionate fans as you could see at the weekend – they turn up in numbers and support their team and they really get behind them.”
