Joel Tomkins opens up on future amidst Leigh deal

Wigan Warriors

When Joel Tomkins signed for Leigh Centurions in August, he knew the dangers of relegation that the club were surrounded by.

But, the rangy back-rower – who will play in Saturday’s Grand Final with the Catalans Dragons against St Helens – has confirmed his allegiance to the Centurions, revealing that he would never renege on a contract.

“I’m committed to Leigh whatever happens – if they are relegated or if anything changes with that and they get to stay in Super League,” Tomkins said.

“I made a conscious decision to do that at the time, I’m not going to pull out of the contract and play for another club.

“We will see what happens.”

Tomkins is currently a key member of the Dragons’ squad as they prepare for Old Trafford, but the 34-year-old also has over 250 Super League games under his belt after debuting for home town club Wigan back in 2005.
