Joe Wardle has hit out at his doubters after making the move to Leigh Centurions.

Wardle has been in and out of action due to injury in recent seasons, but has made the move to Championship side Leigh as they aim to rebuild a squad that won just two games in Super League in 2021.

Wardle, 30, is a vastly experienced and versatile top Super League player who has also represented Scotland and enjoyed one season in the NRL. He has scored 76 tries in 217 career games.

Speaking about his move from Huddersfield Giants Joe Wardle told LCTV that he was excited to join the team. Wardle said: “I needed a fresh challenge and after speaking to Chris (Chester) and knowing what a passionate owner the club have in Derek Beaumont, it was all very appealing. I have played here in the past and the backing Leigh Centurions get from the fans is amazing and I am looking forward to playing here. We need to prove that we are the best in the Championship and get back into Super League.”

He has, however hit out at critics that he is determined “to prove people wrong”.
