Jesse Sene-Lefao highlights the differences between part-time Featherstone Rovers and Castleford Tigers full-time rugby league

When Jesse Sene-Lefao signed for Featherstone Rovers ahead of the 2022 Championship season, there was some surprise.

The former Castleford Tigers forward was in great form by the end of 2021 and was close to signing for the Salford Red Devils before the move broke down.

However, moving from a full-time environment to a part-time one is always a difficult transition, and, following a severe injury in round one when Sene-Lefao dislocated his shoulder, it’s been a long time coming back.

The Samoan international posted on Instagram: “The grind has been real! At times I’ve had thoughts of giving up, thoughts of doing half of the rehab reps and at times thinking is it even worth it?

“In the Championship comp that I’m in, a lot of the work that needs to be done to get back is done alone. Physio and trainers sends you the program and it’s up to you if you do it ! (p.s our physio and trainers have full time jobs outside of rugby).

“This is very different to what I’m used to over the last 13 years  Usually you have a physio/trainers with you everyday watching every rep and keeping time making sure your hitting targets. Treatment 5-7 days a week and they take advantage of any improvements to get a step ahead of the recovery period.

“I’m almost at full training now but still a few weeks off playing !

“I was amazed how much support I had around me. Old trainers I’ve worked with old physio’s reaching out and even the old club reaching out to help with my recovery !! With what we have our Fev staff have done an awesome job getting me here … I owe them so much ! ❤️❤️

“Honestly grateful for how things work when you live with purpose and intent!

“So this photo is just a reminder to have “EYES UP” know what direction your going!

“GRATITUDE “ sometimes the help you need is the breath of life

“WINNING “ that’s another brick to the house that I’m trying to build…
