Wakefield Trinity have announced that Jermaine McGillvary that former England winger from Huddersfield Giants is coming onboard for the 2024 Championship season.

He’s played more than 200 times in the Super League and knows how to find the try line.

He’s done the country proud playing for England especially in World Cup such as 2017 when he finished as England’s top try scorer. Trinity fans are in for a treat with Jermaine running down the sidelines.

Head Coach Daryl Powell said: “When I spoke to Jermaine before we managed to secure his signature I was super impressed with how driven he is to have a big season in ’24.

“He’s been an unbelievable player for a number of years, and I have no doubt he’s going to have a barnstorming season on the wing for Wakefield Trinity . He is an impressive man and player and i am confident the Trinity supporters will absolutely love what he will do this season.”

The club themselves added: “With Jermaine in the mix, Wakefield Trinity’s gearing up for a cracking 2024. Eyes on the prize – we’re aiming for that Super League return.”

McGillvary has spent years at the Giants and is a hero of the club in every sense of the word. He truly came into his own in 2015 as he finished as Super League’s top try scorer having helped Huddersfield to the League Leaders’ Shield in 2013.

The winger would then go on to cement himself as one of the regulars in the England squad until recent years where the likes of Dom Young and Tommy Makinson jumping ahead of him.

That has seemingly been the case at Huddersfield too despite some continued great performances in towards the end of the Super League season. However, Ian Watson placed his focus on a new younger wingers and this has seen him make the move across West Yorkshire to Wakefield.
