Jayden Sullivan’s agent reveals decision over move to Hull FC or Salford Red Devils

Jayden Sullivan is a man in high demand. Since the news broke that the Wests Tigers were willing to allow him to leave the club, a number of clubs are believed to have inquired about his availability. Reports recently have suggested that both Hull FC and the Salford Red Devils were battling is out for his signature.

The Wests Tigers sparked the Super League transfer market into overdrive last month. With reports that Chief Executive, Shane Richardson, had flown to the UK in an attempt to offload some of their offloading stars, it ignited a scramble, as clubs tried to pick off some of their best talent.

Now, it appears that Sullivan is moving closer to making a decision on his future. Yesterday, the player spoke of his desire to stay and fight for his place in the Wests Tigers side. Now, his agent has also provided an update on Sullivan’s future.

Now, the Daily Telegraph has poured cold water on reports linking Sullivan with a move to Super League. Sullivan has been rumoured to be on the radar of Hull FC and Salford Red Devils, however, it now appears that he will remain in the NRL.

“Sullivan has interest from Super League but he won’t be going to England any time soon despite overseas reports that the Wests Tigers half was on his way to the competition next season.

“The fact that Sullivan has appeared on the radar of a host of Super League clubs isn’t a surprise given the Tigers are happy for the half to move on at the end of season.

“However, his agent Mario Tartak has made it clear that Sullivan has little interest to quit the NRL at the age of 22.

“My client Jayden Sullivan will not be going to the Super League,” Tartak said. “These rumours are just that.”

Sullivan has four years remaining on his bumper deal with the Wests Tigers, who he joined at the beginning of this season.

The Super League sides chasing Sullivan will be hugely disappointed to learn that he has no intention to leave the NRL, or move to the UK to play. Despite a difficult season with the Tigers, Sullivan is an exciting player with pace to burn, who would have lifted either Salford or Hull.

However, it will be interesting to see how the Sullivan situation plays out, as the Tigers have to reduce their salary cap, with superstar half-back, Jarmoe Luai, joining the NRL’s bottom side in the close season on a marquee deal.

The Tigers will have to make that money back somewhere and it seem unlikely that they will want to have a player on Sullivan’s salary sat on the bench for too long. Although this snub seems to be a categorical rejection of Super League now, it could be more a case of Sullivan and Wests settling in for a drawn out dispute over the settlement of his remaining contract.
