Jayden Okunbor extends loan away from Hull FC

Hull FC Jayden Okunbor

Hull FC player, Jayden Okunbor, has struggled to settle since his transfer to the UK. The club have now confirmed that his loan spell with the Bradford Bulls will be extended.

Okunbor joined FC in the close season, having played 45 games in the NRL with the Canterbury Bulldogs. He has featured seven times in Super League for the Black and Whites so far this season, however, he fell out of favour after the departure of Tony Smith, having only managed one try.

Okunbor joined the Bulls on an initial short-term deal in May, alongside Hull FC team-mate, having been relegated to Hull FC’s reserve squad. Now, Okunbor is set for a longer spell in the Championship, as his loan deal with the Bulls has been extended for another month at least.

The Bradford Bulls released a statement confirming that Okunbor’s stay at Odsal would be extended for another four weeks. In a statement on the club website, they said:

“Bradford Bulls are delighted to announce Jayden Okunbor will remain with the club for a further four weeks – following the extension of his loan deal.

“The 27-year-old arrived initially on a month’s loan, impressing and scoring on debut against Sheffield Eagles in May, quickly becoming a fans’ favourite at Bartercard Odsal Stadium.

“The towering outside back played a key role in our win over Barrow Raiders last time out, scoring and assisting in the 36-24 win.”

Bradford head coach, Eamon O’Carroll is pleased that Okunbor is able to remain with the club. He said:

“We are happy to be able to extend Jayden Okunbor’s loan for another four weeks. Jayden has been a real positive influence on the group since he came to our club, he’s well liked within the group and I feel each week he’s with us he’s getting better.

“I’d like to thank Adam Pearson and Richie Myler at Hull FC for their support and allowing us the opportunity to work with Jayden.”
