Jarrod O’Connor reveals that Leeds Rhinos have been doing “different things” in pre-season

Traditionally, pre-season is the home of long runs and fitness training.

It is always said that pre-seasons are the same and always the toughest training of any season.

In fact, Castleford Tigers man Alex Sutcliffe said “if anyone says they like pre-season then they’re lying” as he enjoyed his first outing of the season against Featherstone Rovers.

His former teammate Jarrod O’Connor had already made his first appearance ahead of the 2023 Super League season against Wakefield Trinity on Boxing Day.

This came on the end of a pre-season where Leeds did quite a few unique things as they look to go one step further in 2023 after a Grand Final appearance last term.

Speaking to Serious About Rugby League, O’Connor revealed that the Rhinos have been “doing different thing” and even leaving their base of operations.

He said: “Pre season has been going really well so far. I think we have a good group of lads who have all bonded well and everyone is ripping in. We have been doing different things and not just staying in the training ground which keeps things fun and interesting.”

The Rhinos have done the likes of boxing and gymnastics ahead of 2023.

Will it pay off next year? Time will tell.
