Jamie Peacock reveals struggle for new role

Jamie Peacock was an incredible sportsman that won everything at the highest level.

He is what can only be described as one of the most successful players in Super League history, having won a total of nine Super League championships, four Challenge Cup winners medals, been named to the Super League Dream Team on eleven occasions and won the Man of Steel award in 2003.

But, following retirement he has engaged in activities that he never thought he would and earned achievements that he once thought were out of reach.

As a motivational speaker, listening to Peacock would be one of rugby league’s honours.

His own website declares what the former Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls enforcer is all about: ‘Champion Teams’ is a keynote motivational talk by Jamie Peacock that looks at the 12 principles in 3 areas that create a winning team and culture. How your employees can perform to their best as a individuals, as leaders and as the collective. No talent required, no sporting knowledge needed it is all based on making daily good decisions following the 12 principles.

His ‘No White Flag’ speech encapsulates his behaviour on the field – no surrender.

But, a recent post on his social media page on Instagram revealed that he never thought such a moment would ever happen.

“Yesterday I was invited to be a guest speaker for VSI MSC in Sports Directorship in the Chairman Suite at Man City talking about how I have managed the journey from retirement to building up and running a successful business.

“This felt like a very surreal and proud moment in my life, the context for this is.

“1985 – When I was a little lad growing up in Bramley, I thought University was somewhere only ‘posh’ people could go to.
And thought I would never go there.

“1994 – Left school at 16 and still thought not in a million years would I be able to go to University.

“2011 – I start a Masters in Sports Business @leedsbeckett

“2019 – I finish my Masters.

“2021 – Guest Speaker for a Masters course

“Feels like life coming full circle and shows you there is always, always a way. 👊🏻💥”

He truly was an incredible player and now he looks to be guiding the next generation.
