Jamie Peacock claims Super League star’s “career is over”

After a long tribunal last week, a verdict  on Josh McGuire was finally reached.

The loose forward has been given one of the longest bans we’ve seen as well as a fine.

Serious About Rugby League confirmed yesterday that McGuire had until today to appeal the ban as today marks a week since receiving a written verdict.

Serious About Rugby League can now confirm that McGuire WILL NOT appeal his 12 match ban.

This means his Warrington career remains up in the air.

There has been a suggestion that the verdict could see Warrington terminate his contract with numerous reports of that.

Speaking on Wire TV, Daryl Powell addressed the situation saying nothing would be decided until McGuire decides to appeal the ban or not:

“I won’t comment on it.

“Josh has the right to appeal so it would be unfair for me to say anything on that.

“We’ll let that go through its due process.”

Now that we know the ban will stand, it means, if reports are correct, then McGuire could have played his last game for the Wolves.

This week, Jamie Peacock has claimed that McGuire’s career is over.

In light of Josh Griffin’s red card for something he said, Peacock said on BBC:

“We have seen it on a slightly different note with Josh McGuire. His career is over from the language he has used.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t think you should talk back to referees. You are never going to change your mind.”
