Jamie Jones-Buchanan says Super League star is “passed his prime”

Castleford Tigers have been doing it tough lately.

Jamie Jones-Buchanan has identified one man who should be key for the Tigers in their hope to battle away from relegation with Wakefield Trinity at the bottom of the league.

He believes Paul McShane could be key for the Tigers but said that the former Man of Steel and Tigers skipper is now passed his prime.

That said he said of his former Leeds Rhinos teammate that he can still be key for the Tigers and their hopes for the rest of the 2023 season.

“He won the Man of Steel in 2020, that’s not many moons ago,” he said on BBC.

“He is getting a bit older so he is probably passed his prime I’ll be honest with you but he still knows the game and can change a game.

“He still has a change of pace and he just needs people with him.”

Meanwhile, Brian Noble stated that the Tigers needed both McShane and loose-forward Joe Westerman firing for them to have a successful rest of the season:

“They need him and Joe Westerman at their very very best.

“Paul McShane’s skillset is as high as anyone’s in the game.”
