Jamie Jones-Buchanan says Super League star is “going to redefine what rugby league looks like”

It was a heart breaking defeat for Hull KR against Wigan Warriors on Thursday night.

But in the end Hull KR came undone because of what Brian Carney said of Sky Sports is something you can’t legislate for:

“Hull KR thought they had the match won when Mikey Lewis struck a beautiful drop kick, as beautiful and crisply hit as any drop goal you will see but it struck the up right and then it was something you can’t legislate for.

“He plays the game at a different speed to everyone else. Bevan French, I’m not sure what you can do.”

French came up with the decisive play and Jamie Jones-Buchanan subsequently said he could change rugby league:

“I think he is going to redefine what rugby league looks like because this is what people put their telly on for.

“When you want to see Wigan win the game or any team win the game in the dying moments, you want it to be because of skill like this.

“That’s a moment that makes kids want to put their kit on the next day and start throwing a rugby ball around and want to play the game.”

Barrie McDermott added:

“He is an electric player and with the minutes on the clock adds to his flare.”
